Hurricane Melissa has reached its highest intensity in the Caribbean Sea and is currently threatening Jamaica, Cuba and Hispaniola. With wind speeds of up to 280 km/h, Melissa is the strongest tropical storm of 2025 so far and has already claimed at least eight lives.
