Evo R6 Open

Just press the button

It couldn't be simpler If the owner gets too cramped in the cockpit, all he has to do is press the button and his R6 Open really widens. In figures: exactly two metres wider. With the same hand movement, he transforms the bathing platform into a diving platform and opens the door to the dinghy garage under the sunbed. Volvo Penta's electronically controlled inboard performance system is one level lower. Those who have ordered the more powerful (2 x 725 hp) of the two models on offer here can look forward to a top speed of 35 knots. The design by Valerio Rivellini and the onboard comfort offered by the sun loungers, cockpit sofas, the galley below deck and two cabins with their separate bathrooms are also sure to impress. Riviera 50 Sports

From bottom to top

Quo vadis It's a long way from Down Under to Europe. Not only geographically. Australian yacht builders are still struggling on the European market, which is certainly less due to the quality of the boats than to the model policy. The fact is, motor yachts like the new 50 Sports are easier to sell in North America than here. Passage Maker, Pilothouse and Convertible Sport Fish; the shipyard sees the 50 Sports as an all-rounder that impresses with its excellent handling characteristics, long range and equally spacious interior. Flybridge, a cockpit with wet bar and BBQ grill, owner's suite, VIP and guest cabins, two bathrooms and saloon are standard. The owner has a choice of propulsion: Volvo Pentas IPS 950 or two MAN diesels with V-Drive. Both guarantee a top speed of 35 knots. Info: www.rivieraaustralia.com

Wajer 38

Something has really happened

Get well soon Upgrading is the new German word for "upgrading" or "improving". With the Wajer 38, this attempt is (only) invisible at first glance. The Dutch boat builders have used even more carbon fibre and equipped their 38 with a foil assist. The stainless steel "wing" literally lifts the boat out of the water, improving comfort, performance and fuel consumption. The sleek lines, the elegant cockpit upholstery and the brand-new, customised driver's seats are not to be overlooked. www.wajer.com

Pearl 62

Made in England

Space advantage You have a front row seat with the boat builders from Warwick. Only if you want to, of course. In addition to the bow cockpit, which also has a sunbed, the flybridge also comes as standard. The upper floor under the hardtop offers space for the second driving position, a large sunbed, two seating areas and a wet bar with barbecue. Cooking, washing up and dining take place in the glass-fronted saloon below. The space in the basement is shared by the noble owner's suite with a view of the sea, a cabin for the very important people, two guest cabins and two bathrooms. Terrace and tender lift - the lowerable bathing platform can do both. Volvo Penta's Inboard Performance System, which is equipped with electronically controlled pod drives, is also a real masterpiece and is only available as a duo for the Pearl 62 with 1450, 1600 or 1800 hp. This guarantees excellent driving and manoeuvring characteristics and top speeds beyond the 30 kn mark. www.pearlyachts.com

Linssen GS 40.0 AC Intero

Lots of light and space

Retreaded The windows are larger and the interior is much brighter, which provides more daylight and living comfort. Owners and crew will find the latter in three cabins. While you sleep separately in the guest cabin, the aft and forward cabins are equipped with comfortable double beds and separate showers and toilets. The deck saloon, which has a sofa, kitchen and dinette, is for everyone. Typical of the AC (Aft Cabin) version: the outside steering position, which is weatherproofed with a convertible. On the technical side, Intero-Design means an improved hull shape and rudder and shaft system and, together with the 110 hp diesel, first-class handling characteristics. Info: www.linssenyachts.com

Beneteau Flyer 9

Better safe than sorry

Election result You want to cook on board? No problem. A hardtop would be nice? No problem either. Beneteau offers its Flyer 9 in two versions, as a sundeck or spacedeck. Sundeck stands for slip cabin, four berths, cockpit pantry, a bathroom with shower and toilet and two (bow and stern) XXL sunbeds. If you tick Spacedeck on the order form, you get a walkaround concept with two convertible seating groups (fore and aft) and a centre console with a bench for the driver and co-driver. The hardtop is optional, the flat cabin with two double berths and toilet standard. The folding dropside is also always included. When it comes to propulsion, the shipyard favours twin engines with 2 x 250 hp. The bestseller is Suzuki's DF 250. www.beneteau.com

Boarncruiser 44 Elegance AC

(Ele)all in white

In good shape? Large smooth surfaces, corners and edges: That was once upon a time. Renowned steel yacht builders such as De Boarnstream discovered curves and flowing lines years ago. Boarncruiser 44 Elegance, the name says it all. The perfectly crafted steel houses the aft and forward cabins with en-suite bathrooms, a guest cabin and, as an "intermediate solution", a functional kitchen, dinette and saloon. It goes without saying that the shipyard does not leave the helmsman out in the rain on the aft deck. In other words, a convertible top is standard. Info: www.boarncruiser.com

Rome 28

A man wants to get to the top

Start-up The man knows what he wants. Jorge Martins, head of Rom Boats, has a clear goal. He wants to establish his 28er in the sports boat market, at the "luxury end". That means right at the top. Modern design, first-class construction materials and perfect workmanship are the starting points. The Portuguese boat builders laminate the hull and deck using a vacuum process and work with exotic fabrics in the upholstery department. King Customer then finds them in the cockpit, which is dominated by comfortable sun loungers, and in the slip cabin, where a double berth, electric toilet and refrigerator are standard. The necessary power (230-440 hp) is provided by engines with twin-propeller sterndrives. Info: www.romboats.com
