Are you studying something to do with media, journalism or communication - or something completely different? Are you interested in content, social media and real editorial experience? And if sails, motorboats, the sea, harbours or water sports come up somewhere, you're not immediately out, but rather curious?
Then this could be a good fit: Delius Klasing is looking for a new member of its water sports team in Hamburg. Working student for water sports - print & digital - (m/f/d).
It's about a job that can be easily combined with your studies, is flexible and gives you an insight into an editorial team that doesn't just take place at a desk. It's about magazines, websites, newsletters, social media, videos, events and, above all, a themed world that can do more than just beautiful sunsets on the jetty.
Watersports is sailing, motor boating, racing, travelling, technology, lifestyle, community and sometimes a lot of nerd knowledge. It's about new yachts, fast motorboats, smart equipment, sailing areas, trends, safety, people on the water and the question of how to tell all this in an exciting way.
The Delius Klasing water sports team works at precisely this interface. The Hamburg editorial centre produces content for YACHT, BOATS EXCLUSIVE and BOATS. In other words, for brands that have been a fixture in the water sports world for years and continue to grow digitally.
As a working student, you won't just be there, but will support experienced editors where content is created every day: with articles, social media posts, newsletters, topic planning and editorial organisation.
You will help with the day-to-day business of the editorial team. This can mean Creating articles in editorial systems, preparing texts for online, structuring articles, assigning images and content, building social media posts or helping to prepare newsletters.
The digital area is particularly important. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, newsletter, website: Today, water sports content not only has to be well written, but also well prepared and appropriately presented. So you help package content in such a way that it works online and reaches the community.
In addition, there are organisational and administrative tasks that are simply part and parcel of an editorial team: Keeping track of topics, preparing articles, sorting material, supporting processes. Sounds dry? But it's exactly the area where you really learn how editing works on a day-to-day basis.
The job is particularly well suited to students from Media economics, journalism, communication sciences, communication economics or similar degree programmes. But even more important than the perfect degree programme is that you are interested in the content.
You should enjoy writing, have a feel for storytelling and find digital communication more than just theoretically exciting. If you spend a lot of time on social media in your private life anyway, enjoy observing trends and have a feel for what works on Instagram, LinkedIn or Facebook, that's a plus.
WordPress and MS Office should not be completely foreign to you. It is even better if you have already worked with content management systems, planned posts, created newsletters or published your own texts.
And of course: an interest in water sports helps a lot. You don't have to have been sailing regattas since you were a child or recognise every motor yacht by its hull. But if you've sailed before, have a boating licence, surf, paddle, motorboat or simply want to get to grips with this world, you've come to the right place.
Many working student jobs are either very administrative or very far removed from what you really want to do later on. It's different here: you get an insight into a real editorial team, work on well-known brands and learn how content is created for print, online, social media and newsletters.
At the same time, the job is easy to do alongside your studies. The maximum working hours are 20 hours per weekMobile working is possible and tasks can be organised flexibly in many areas. So it's ideal if you want to balance your studies, part-time job and private life.
What's more, you will work together with experienced editors, receive a professional induction and gain your first in-depth professional experience in the media industry. Not as an internship somewhere on the sidelines, but as part of a team that produces content for a large water sports community on a daily basis.
Delius Klasing is one of the leading special interest publishers in Europe. Its portfolio includes magazines such as YACHT, BOATS EXCLUSIVE, BOATSbut also titles from other sports and leisure sectors. The water sports team is based in Hamburg. The environment is sporty, collegial and dynamic. For you, this means that you work in a professional publishing house, but at the same time you get a topic that is emotional, visually powerful and versatile.
Or to put it more simply: you don't just make any content. You make content about water, boats, people, technology, travelling and a community that is passionate about its hobby.
You should work reliably, independently and carefully. Editing doesn't just mean being creative, it also means having a clear structure, keeping an eye on deadlines and preparing content properly.
At the same time, creativity, strong communication skills and initiative are required. Good ideas are welcome. Anyone who thinks for themselves, recognises issues and wants to take on responsibility can learn a lot here.
Writing samples are welcome in the application. These don't have to be perfectly published magazine articles. Good university texts, blog posts, social media projects or other work samples can also show that you can write and develop content.
