An article recounting the adventures of the ‘Ingeborg 3’ in the summer of 1926 appeared in our sister magazine, YACHT, that very same year. We are reproducing it here in its original form, retaining the original spelling.
Not everything was different in the past
A look through the archives reveals that some things were different 100 years ago – but in many respects, they weren’t. The Backdecker’s voyages began with its transfer from the winter storage facility at the shipyard in Bremen, via the River Weser, the Wadden Sea, the River Elbe and the River Havel, to its home berth in Berlin.
Next, we’re off to the Baltic Sea, from the Szczecin Lagoon to the Bay of Lübeck and back again, with detours around Rügen and through the Bodden waters. The atmosphere on board is good; minor and major mishaps are dealt with ‘in good humour’. It’s a lively affair anyway – in every sense of the word.
