Skippers have long had to be patient with the dilapidated Lindaunis railway bridge. Only recently, Deutsche Bahn cancelled the new schedule for the completion of the new replacement building ahead: It should be ready by the end of 2027 - four years later than originally planned. The project has already been running for two decades.
The bridge, which was built in 1927 and has already been partially dismantled, has been closed to car and rail traffic for several years; only pedestrians can now cross the Schlei on a temporary bridge. In order to allow shipping on the Schlei to continue without interruption, there were still fixed opening hours.
From 3 November, however, this will come to an end. From this date, the bridge will be completely closed until April 2026. This has now been announced by the responsible Baltic Sea Waterways and Shipping Authority in a corresponding notice to mariners (BfS) with. A specific date for the reintroduction of scheduled opening hours has not yet been announced.
Anyone who still wants to cross the bridge during this time must register in advance: This is because special openings should be "generally possible in coordination with the construction site". However, the need for this must be announced to Deutsche Bahn at least ten working days before the passage. A speed limit of ten kilometres per hour (5.4 knots) then applies for the passage.
