The Wilhelmshaven sea lock. The eastern chamber on the right is affected by the fault.
Technical fault at the Wilhelmshaven sea lock: The east chamber is out of service until further notice. Special regulations apply for pleasure craft during the closure period.

Skippers travelling between the Jade, the port of Wilhelmshaven and the Ems-Jade Canal must be prepared for restrictions. As the responsible Weser-Jade-Nordsee Waterways and Shipping Authority announced in a current notice to mariners the eastern chamber of the sea lock is out of operation until further notice due to a malfunction.

No single locks during the week

A special regulation applies until the locks are reopened: from Mondays to Thursdays, there are no individual locks for pleasure craft. Those who still wish to pass can use the lock passages for government vessels or wait to lock together with naval or commercial vessels.

Fixed locks at the weekend

Locks were set up for pleasure craft at fixed times at weekends:

Friday:

  • 8:45 am - 9:00 am and 1:00 pm - 1:15 pm seaward
  • 3:30 pm - 3:45 pm and 5:15 pm - 5:30 pm inwards

Saturday and Sunday:

  • 8:45 am - 9:00 am and 1:15 pm - 1:30 pm seaward
  • 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm and 5:15 pm - 5:30 pm inwards

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
