Looking for a seasonal mooring? We want to find out for you where you can stay with your boat
Following the severe storm in October last year, some marinas along the German and Danish Baltic Sea coast have lost berths. Many owners whose permanent berths have been lost, at least for this season, are still looking for alternatives. In which harbours are there still free seasonal berths for 2024? Are you a harbour master or a member of a club with a free seasonal berth? Then please get in touch with our editorial team at redaktion@boote-magazin.de

Despite all the hurdles, some harbours were able to open on time for the start of the season. In Schilksee, for example, the reconstruction work progressed faster than expected. And there has also been great progress in Maasholm and Schleimünde in recent weeks. The marinas are expected to open a little late on 1 May. However, some marinas are only opening with a limited number of berths. Mommark will open with around half the berths. In Damp, the costs for the Refurbishment and expansion to 13 million euros It is expected that the state will cover 70% of this sum. A partial opening for around 100 berths is also being discussed here in order to resume service operations. This will not be of much use to many permanent berth holders for the season that has already started. And alternative options are rare in the harbours that are fully booked almost everywhere along the coast. In Kiel alone, around 400 owners and their ships were on the waiting list in 2023.

Hope for a free seasonal berth

But there are still places available, and not just for guests. In the Fiskenæs marina in Gråsten on the Flensburg Fjord, for example, there are still many berths available for boats up to approx. 12 metres, according to the operator. All berths have electricity and water. There are good sanitary facilities, a separate clubhouse with fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and tumble dryer as well as a large barbecue area. Free car parking is available. Membership of the club is linked to a berth. The membership fee is collected with the invoice for the mooring. And if you are temporarily interested in alternative options to the Baltic Sea after the events in the autumn, you can also find a nice place in the SSV Borsfleth e.V. sports boat harbour in the mouth of the Störmündung on the Lower Elbe, for example.

Initial feedback

In the Private harbour Yachtsport Eckernförde Nielsen there is still a free seasonal berth, as the owner reported to the editorial team. The berth is 15 metres long and 4.2 metres wide.

In Krautsand (near NOK) there are still some berths available at the Drochtersen Elbe Water Sports Club free for guest berths. The berths are tide-dependent, but can be accessed four hours before and four hours after high tide.

The Schaich boatyard in Fehmarnsund offers several berths in the harbour for pleasure craft between seven and 15 metres in length. Interested parties can contact the respective harbours for further information.
