Darßer Ort, seen from the north: The passage to the emergency harbour is clearly visible.
The Stralsund Waterways and Shipping Authority has once again closed the Darßer Ort port of refuge until further notice due to heavy sand drifting.

The closure was published by the WSA Stralsund in a Notice to mariners. At the same time, the leading light was also switched off until further notice. Buoys 2 and 4 as well as the temporarily deployed buoy DO S are withdrawn. However, the pier lights and the "Darßer Ort 1" light buoy remain in operation as an orientation aid for the rescue cruiser.

The port of refuge near Prerow on the north-western tip of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula is the only retreat for skippers on the 70 nautical mile stretch of Baltic coast between Rostock-Warnemünde and the entrance to the Bodden waters. Due to its location in the core zone of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park, the harbour has been under discussion for years and has been repeatedly affected by silting. The search is still on for an alternative option for the construction of a new replacement harbour.

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
