The Bahamas, often only two or three metres deep near the US coast, is a catfish paradise with an American character. They are characterised by excellent infrastructure, very short distances and practically only coral atolls

With almost 500 nautical miles and 700 islets of all sizes, the area is huge. However, most crews stay in the north around Great Abaco or set off from Marsh Harbour or Nassau directly towards the Exumas in the south. They sail under the protection of the offshore islands and reefs, often in water only three to five metres deep. The sea shines in the most beautiful light turquoise colours, but also has a tidal current of up to three knots due to the shallow depths.

Highlights

The Bahamas epitomise the island lifestyle of flat coral beaches with a few palm trees, bars and restaurants. In addition, there are often still secluded islands, bays and beaches. There are said to be 365 islets in the Exumas alone. The nature park there is great for snorkelling. The area is a playground for US crews, so the price level is quite high.

Charter

Stops can be found in Nassau or on Great Abaco. This will decide whether you stay in the north or head south to the Exumas.

Journey

Either via Miami (US visa required) or via London once a week directly to Nassau.
