Work is currently in full swing in Maasholm to completely rebuild the jetties. Brand new supply pillars are also being installed. When our sister magazine YACHT visited the site at the end of April, new GRP planks had already been laid on the two pontoons to the east. In addition, all defective stern piles had already been replaced. However, due to partially incomplete or delayed material deliveries, the reopening can only take place in stages.
The official route for permanent residents is currently as follows like this: Jetties B, D, E, G, H and I are almost finished and will be available - together with electricity and water - from the beginning of May. Jetties A and C have to be completely renovated and will probably not be open until the end of May. Jetty F is expected to be dismantled in May and then rebuilt. If the work proceeds according to plan, they will be opened in August. Maasholm will not be open to guest moorings again until 1 June.
In Schleimünde, the season starts two weeks early: thanks to the tireless work of the operators, many donations - almost 100,000 euros! - and voluntary work, the popular harbour is open for the season from 15 May. 150 tonnes of stone and 400 cubic metres of sand had to be moved to give the harbour and houses some protection again. However, the "poison shack" will not be open this year, and in future it will no longer offer hot food. Only the harbour master's office and the small shop are currently in operation. Schleswiger Anstalten is considering whether a catering service of some kind with cakes or cold dishes is possible. However, this should not be expected. Water and sewage pipes have been laid again. The showers are not quite ready yet, but they should be finished soon. The steamer jetty is not yet usable again, and the damaged path to the lighthouse remains closed for the time being. Electricity should be back at the moorings by mid-May. The barbecue area, on the other hand, has already been made ready again.
