Marie Schneider has translated the BoatHowTo engine course into German. And because she had so much fun in the workshop, she quickly caused a water hammer on her test diesel in a controlled manner and then dismantled the entire engine. She explains how engine problems can be identified during a test drive.
Anyone who believes that fog is fog is mistaken. Vapours form over water surfaces for a variety of reasons. The time of year, the temperature difference to the air, the general weather situation or local factors all play a role. Boat instructor Leon Schulz has often encountered fog on his trips. He explains when visibility becomes poor - and for how long.
Our head of boat testing Jan-Ole Puls has already seen many engine compartments. Oily fingers and the smell of diesel included. A contrasting programme awaited him on the Wia 350: two brushless Bellmarine DriveMaster 10.0 engines hardly take up any space, but provide up to 6.7 knots of thrust. Not a record speed, but for the modern weekender, the journey is the reward.
