After its debut last year, the E1 is returning to Dubrovnik for the third race of the 2026 season. The event will be organised in cooperation with local partners such as the Croatian Ministry of Tourism and Sport and the City of Dubrovnik. After the previous freshwater race on Lake Como, the teams will have to adapt their boats to the changed conditions in salt water again in Croatia.

Tight race at the top of the table

After the second race of the season on the Lake Como in Italy, the field at the top of the E1 Series is moving closer together. The team of actor Will Smith (Westbrook Racing) currently leads the overall standings with 60 points. In second and third place are Team Brady with three points and the Aoki Racing Team five points behind. As a Grand Prix victory earns the winner 38 points, there is plenty of room for manoeuvre in the overall standings.

E1 Series: Regulations and knockout system

All ten teams in the E1 Series start with identical foiling boats, known as RaceBirds, to which unauthorised modifications are prohibited. The boats reach speeds of up to 50 knots, taking off on their hydrofoils at a speed of around 18 knots and going into a hovering state.

A Grand Prix is held in a knockout system with qualifying heats, heats, a race-off and the final super final. Due to the battery capacity under maximum load, each heat lasts around 15 minutes. In accordance with the series' parity principle, each team must have one male and one female pilot, who alternate in the heats and whose individual results are combined.

Supporting programme and conference on the marine economy

A free fan zone will be set up for spectators on Friday and Saturday, where a RaceBird showboat will be on display and simulation experiences will be offered. The "Dubrovnik Blue Economy Summit" will take place on Friday alongside the sporting events.

At this conference on the sidelines of the E1 Series, representatives of the Croatian government and industry leaders will discuss electric racing. This is intended to serve as a model for the switch to electric drives in the maritime sector.

Anyone who wants to follow the E1 not following the action on the coast can watch the qualifying heats and the main races via the DAZN streaming service, RTL Voyo, ZonaSport TV or the racing series' YouTube channel.

Nach seinem Studium der Publizistik schlägt er nun die Brücke zwischen dem journalistischen Handwerk und der Praxis auf dem Wasser und bringt seine Begeisterung für den Sport als Volontär in die Redaktion der YACHT ein.
