King Frederik X will be travelling to the Royal Run on Whit Monday on the royal ship "Dannebrog". He is expected to arrive in the city's harbour between 9.45 and 10.15 am. The journey across Randers Fjord will be a spectacular event that will bring excitement to the entire region. The historic ship will pass Udbyhøj, Mellerup and Dronningborg on its route before docking in Randers harbour. Local rowing boats, canoes and kayaks accompany the "Dannebrog" on its journey through the fjord.

According to Mayor Rosa Lykke Yde, it will be an impressive sight when the ship sails through the fjord to Randers. She is looking forward to welcoming the "Dannebrog" back, as this will make the day even more festive and memorable. After the official reception, the King will give the starting signal for the Royal Run and take part in the race himself.

The programme on the day of the event

The Royal Run offers different distances (1.6 km, 5 km, 10 km) for children, young people and adults, regardless of pace and ability level. Thousands of participants of all ages are expected to take part. The routes run through the city, with spectators cheering on the runners along the route.

Further activities are planned around the route and in the start area on Tronholmen. The restored chalup "Den Blå Chalup" will be moored in the harbour between the Randers Bridge and the bicycle bridge throughout the day. Visitors can tour the ship with a full crew.

About the kingship "Dannebrog"

The "Dannebrog" was christened by Queen Alexandrine in Copenhagen in 1931 and put into service on 26 May 1932. Since then, the ship has served as the royal family's official and private residence when travelling within and outside Denmark.

It was built at the naval shipyard in Copenhagen to replace a royal predecessor ship from 1879. The layout is designed so that the crew and technical areas are located at the front of the ship, while the royal family's quarters are located at the rear.

The "Dannebrog" was last seen in Randers on 31 August 2023, when Queen Margrethe II visited the city. The ship was last used in the Royal Run in Fredericia in 2024.
