Sharing boats instead of buying them: ME Yachting launches yacht sharing on Mallorca

Those who dream of owning their own boat often shy away from the high purchase and maintenance costs. ME Yachting has therefore developed a yacht-sharing model together with Yates Mallorca that makes access to large boats much more affordable. The concept makes it possible to share a high-quality yacht with other owners at only a fraction of the usual cost.

The principle is simple: several people share ownership of a yacht without having to purchase it outright. Each co-owner pays only part of the purchase price - usually a quarter - and in return receives ten weeks of use per year. These weeks can be flexibly distributed throughout the year. The boat is completely ready for use during the booked periods - refuelled, cleaned and technically checked. As an owner, you get the "all-round carefree package", so to speak.

Full enjoyment for a quarter of the cost

"With just a quarter of the regular purchase price, interested parties can fulfil their dream of owning their own boat," explains Matthias Ebert, CEO of ME Yachting. Depending on the model, the monthly service costs amount to around 1,250 euros per co-owner. This includes all maintenance and care work as well as the provision of the yacht. A particular advantage of the offer is the berth in the newly built Club de Mar Mallorca. The marina is located in the centre of Palma and offers an exclusive ambience. All running costs are shared fairly between the partners. Those who do not wish to use their weeks during the season can release them for charter. Owners receive a credit of 3,750 euros towards their monthly service costs for each week they relinquish. With appropriate utilisation, the running costs can ideally be reduced to zero.

Yacht sharing is handled via app

ME Yachting has developed a special app to simplify the entire yacht management process. The yacht is carefully checked before and after every trip. All checks are documented in the app and can be viewed by the owners at any time. The app also contains a digital manual that makes it easier to handle the ship safely. Owners can also use the app to book additional services: from crew organisation, catering and delivery of water sports equipment to booking events and berths. If required, the Yates Mallorca team can take over the complete yacht management including crew organisation, charter operations and events on board.
