Pleasure craft crossing the new "double" Meiningen Bridge over the Zingster Strom - the old swing bridge in front, the new temporary bascule bridge behind.
Construction of the new temporary bridge over the Zingster Strom between Bresewitz and Zingst has been completed. Here are the dimensions of the passage.

The construction of the new temporary bridge - designed as a bascule bridge - replaced the existing pontoon bridge over theZingster streamparallel and to the west of the swing bridge. The decision to build another temporary structure could, according to local rumours, be due to the high costs of a permanent new solution (not least for the costly renovation of the swing bridge) and the fact that a decision has not yet been made to build a railway line from the mainland over to Zingst (as part of the reactivation of the former "Darß-Bahn").

The Stralsung Waterways and Shipping Authority now provides the following technical data for the passage:

New temporary bridge (bascule bridge)

  • Bridge main clearance height in closed condition: 2.10 m above MW
  • Bridge main passage width: 13.00 m

Meiningen Bridge (swing bridge)

  • Bridge main clearance height in closed condition: 3.30 m above MW
  • Bridge main passage width: 18.50 m

Thecurrent bridge opening times apply to both bridges and are published on the website of the Stralsund Waterways and Shipping Office and as a notice to mariners.

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
