Anchoring promises a wonderful experience of nature far away from crowded marinas, yet many sailors only feel confident enough to attempt the manoeuvre for a swim stop at most. Admittedly, in calm conditions, any anchor will hold the boat in position. But when the wind picks up or shifts, many anchorages start to shift. In this webinar, we explain what to look out for when anchoring.

Webinar content:

Hauke Schmidt, Test & Technology Editor, is not only a cruising sailor with a particular fondness for anchorage bays, but has also been conducting YACHT’s practical anchor tests for decades. Hardly anyone else is likely to have carried out so many anchoring manoeuvres over the years. In this webinar, he explains what matters when it comes to equipment, choosing an anchorage and the manoeuvre itself, so that you can moor safely and ensure your crew and yacht enjoy a peaceful night’s rest. He also covers local peculiarities, such as the popular method of mooring against the rocks in Schwenden. A webinar for both beginners and experienced skippers.
