International Multihull Show 2026: Larger, more international and, above all, even more motor-orientated than in previous years. A selection of the upcoming boat types.

The International Multihull Show in La Grande-Motte is repositioning itself for 2026. From 22 to 26 April, not only is the who's who of the multihull scene once again expected on the French Mediterranean coast, the trade fair is also growing in terms of space and content. The centrepiece of the innovations is a third marina. Together with a redesigned walkway and a central entrance directly at the Capitainerie, the aim is to make visiting the trade fair clearer. The background to this is ongoing modernisation work in the port.

In terms of content, a trend is continuing that has already become apparent in recent years: Motorised catamarans are increasingly taking on the leading role. Several world premieres have already been announced for 2026. These include the electric Whisper 50, new models from Aventura, Leopard and Outremer as well as the AY60 from Adventure Yachts. For the first time, there are more power cats than sailing cats on the list of premières.

The Salon also remains clearly on course internationally. Around 20 per cent of the exhibitors registered so far are new, all of them from abroad. The programme is complemented by the "Multihull Design & Innovation" area, which focuses on new materials, sustainable drives and fresh room concepts. The market is providing a tailwind: multihulls have been growing steadily for years and motorised catamarans now account for around a quarter of all sales. Accordingly, the 2026 trade fair should not only be a showcase, but once again also a trend barometer for the coming years, at least as far as the multihull segment is concerned.

Editor Test & Technology

Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
