The Austrian shipyard Silent Yachts, which is known for its innovative and environmentally friendly designs, will present its latest flagship, the SILENT 62 3-deck solar-electric catamaran, at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023. The new three-decker is based on the SILENT 60 and offers around 50 square metres more space thanks to the third deck.

With a carbon fibre construction to reduce weight and a shape optimised by CFD studies, Silent aims to set new standards in yacht construction. The shipyard offers various design options for the third deck, including an open or closed skylounge and an owner's cabin.

Instead of the 21 square metre standard flybridge, the Open Front Exit version offers a 50 square metre open flydeck with bar, gallery, dining table and bench seating for up to 12 people. Numerous sofas and seating areas as well as a steering position are also available. Accommodation on board is provided in four cabins and a well-equipped crew cabin. All cabins have their own bathroom. The spacious saloon on the main deck offers a good view through its large windows.

The drive train is already familiar from the SILENT 60: Equipped with 42 high-performance solar cells with an output of up to 17 kWp and an electric drive that claims to be silent, the yacht enables an unlimited range without noise, exhaust fumes or vibrations. The drive train consists of 2 x 34 kW motors, a 150 kW diesel generator and a 286 kWh water-cooled lithium battery. This means that the operating costs are significantly lower than for conventional motor yachts with combustion engines. The generator is only used to recharge the batteries in rare cases when higher speeds are required over a longer period of time or the weather conditions are unfavourable for several days. The boat should be able to travel up to 100 nautical miles per day efficiently on solar energy. Thanks to her shallow draught, she can easily enter shallow bays and is therefore ideal for sailing areas such as the Caribbean or South East Asia.

The yacht is also designed for two people. It has an optional hydraulic stern platform, which can also be used as a bathing platform. It offers space for a dinghy up to 4.2 metres long. Additional water toys, kayaks, SUPs and e-bikes can be stowed on the bridge deck.

In addition to the SILENT 62 3-deck, the front-exit version of the popular SILENT 60 series will also be presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023.
