All good things come in threes: The Fjord F480 combines Nordic charm, German yacht building and, for the first time, Italian style

With the F480, Fjord Yachts is sending a weekender into the race that combines the best of three worlds: Nordic appearance (angular and clear), German yacht building from Greifswald and, for the first time, Italian style: the lines and interior of the 14.60 metre long Fjord were designed by Marco Casali from the Roman studio Too Design.

In the Open version, for example, two IPS-800 engines deliver a maximum speed of 34 knots. The 480 Sport is fitted with three Mercury Verado V12 outboards, which deliver a total of 1324 kilowatts and catapult the boat up to 45 knots.

Weekender with folding side balconies

The dolce vita on deck is provided by two wide sun loungers and folding balconies that transform the cockpit into a beach club. The fact that the hardtop supports have to be angled forwards at the foot seems like a trick.

More on the topic:

Below deck of the 4.57 metre wide weekender, there are various options to choose from: either a saloon with seating area in the foredeck plus a double cabin or two double cabins for four guests. There are also one or two shower toilets. Additional bulkheads and doors provide more privacy. The Fjord 480 will be officially launched in autumn 2024.

Uske was born just outside Volkswagen in 1970 and tested various small boats with sails through her boyfriend (now husband 😊) on a quarry pond. Her studies in Kiel took her to the Baltic Sea with boats of all kinds and eventually to a regatta from Hong Kong to Mauritius via the Academic Sailing Club. Her teacher training ended at the Burda School of Journalism in Munich instead of in the classroom and finally at Boote Exclusiv. After a long break and various stories about house building, she returned to Delius Klasing and has been filling the magazine with long stories about large ships ever since. A family-owned H-boat was quickly sold again as the mother realized that sailing with two small children was neither relaxing nor fun.
