The shipyard group from Nobiskrug and Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft is insolvent. This secures the salaries of the almost 500 employees until January 2025 for the time being. It is unclear whether the shipyard's fate will remain in the hands of investor Lars Windhorst.

The companies affected by the insolvency are FSG-Nobiskrug Holding GmbH, Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft mbH, Nobiskrug Yachts GmbH and FSG Nobiskrug Design GmbH with shipyard locations in Flensburg and Rendsburg. Two provisional insolvency administrators from Hamburg are working on restructuring solutions: Dr Christoph Morgen (Brinkmann & Partner law firm) and Hendrik Gittermann (REIMER law firm). Gittermann already handled the Nobiskrug insolvency in 2021, from which investor Lars Windhorst and his Tennor Holding emerged as the new owner.

Christmas wages are paid

It is not known whether investor and owner Lars Windhorst or creditors filed for insolvency. What is clear is that payments were delayed for a year and a half and wages sometimes did not find their way into employees' accounts. Pre-insolvency financing was initiated to cover the salaries of the almost 500 employees - around 340 in Flensburg and 140 in Rendsburg - up to and including January 2025.

One ship and one yacht project affected

The provisional insolvency administrators are now seeking contact with clients for projects that have already begun: FSG built a RoRo ferry in Flensburg and Nobiskrug built a superyacht in Rendsburg. If necessary, Dr Morgen and Gittermann want to talk to the federal and state governments about possibilities for support with interim financing of the construction costs until acceptance and payment by the clients. At the same time, further options for the reorganisation of the renowned shipyards will be developed, with or without Lars Windhorst.

The last delivery from Nobiskrug - the 70 metre long "Amoa" - was over a year old at the time of the renewed insolvency. In January 2023, the Rendsburg-based company was awarded the construction contract for the 83-metre project. "Hurricane" FSG-Nobiskrug also acquired Wuerzburger Interieur Manufaktur (WIMA).

New management took over in June 2024

In June 2024, Nobiskrug and FSG were given new leadership. Robert Fischer von Mollard (38) became Managing Director, Michel Bollmann (37) took over the position of Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Von Mollard was previously Production Manager at Nobiskrug and Bollmann held the same position at FSG. Lars Windhorst, the shareholder of FSG-Nobiskrug, announced his intention to withdraw from operational management. The reorganisation was intended to continue the process of restructuring the shipyards with the aim of preserving the shipbuilding industry in Schleswig-Holstein.
