Technohull is positioning the Alpha 50 at the top end of its RIB portfolio. The Greek company has already received 14 construction orders for the 14.95 metre long model, which they are working on at the production facility 50 kilometres south of Athens, which will open in 2021. In the demonstration version, the seven-tonner is powered by four 450R engines with 331 kilowatts each from Mercury Racing. Technohull lists five 500s as the maximum engine power and reckons with top speeds of 85 knots. For those who prefer inboard propulsion, two 320-kilowatt diesel engines are available.
The two-stage deep-V hull with a fairly straight stem always remains the same, which should help the design to be highly efficient. According to the shipyard, the consumption is the same as that of the smaller models. Both the centre console with two Raymarine plotters and six full-suspension seats and the cabin, which is accessed via a pantograph door, benefit from a width of 4.72 metres. The Greek RIB experts have furnished the double bed with plenty of leather, installed a large hatch for ventilation and separated the toilet with shower. Another sleeping area, albeit without windows, is hidden in the foredeck. Life on the Alpha 50 tends to take place outside and during the day anyway.
