Brabus Marine presents the new Shadow 38 series. The two models Shadow 850 XC and Shadow 1000 XC are based on the proven Axopar 37 platform and offer up to 1,000 hp. The world premiere will take place at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2026.

Brabus Marine announces the new Shadow 38 series. The two models Shadow 850 XC Cross Cabin and Shadow 1000 XC Cross Cabin replace the previous Shadow 900 and 1000 models. The boats are based on the further developed Axopar 37 platform and measure 38 feet (11.58 metres) in length. The development was carried out in close co-operation between the Finnish boat builder Axopar and the German luxury company Brabus.

Two motorisations for different requirements

The Shadow 1000 XC model is equipped with two Mercury Racing 500R V8 engines with a combined 1,000 hp (735 kW). The top speed is just under 60 knots (111 km/h). The Shadow 850 XC uses two Mercury 425 V10 engines with a total of 850 hp (625 kW) and can reach speeds of up to 55 knots (102 km/h). According to the manufacturer, the V10 engines offer more even torque and smoother running, while the V8 variant is designed for direct response behaviour.

Modular concept with extended options

The Shadow 38 range offers various configuration options for layout and equipment. Buyers can choose between different materials and surface finishes. The Cross Cabin design refers to a cabin with a raised roof, which allows more headroom in the interior. The cockpit has seating groups that can be used flexibly, according to Brabus Marine. The upholstery consists of high-quality materials that are also used in the Brabus cars.

The hull is based on the Axopar 37 construction with a modified design. CE category B permits use in wind forces of up to 8 Beaufort and wave heights of up to 4 metres. According to the manufacturer, the deep V-hull should offer good seakeeping characteristics. The width is 3.49 metres and the draught is 0.85 metres. The unladen weight of the Shadow 850 XC is around 4,500 kilograms, while the Shadow 1000 XC weighs around 4,700 kilograms. The fuel tank holds 600 litres, the fresh water tank 100 litres.

Equipment and operating concept

The boat is controlled via digital displays at the helm. Brabus Marine installs Garmin navigation systems with touchscreen operation. The seat position at the helm can be adjusted in height and angle. The cabin area features a galley with sink and refrigerator as well as a separate wet room. The berth in the cabin measures 2.10 metres in length. A bimini top (sun canopy) can be fitted above the cockpit. The bathing platform at the stern can be lowered hydraulically, making it easier to get into the water.

Prices and availability

The Brabus Shadow 850 XC Cross Cabin costs from 429,000 euros, the Shadow 1000 XC model from 479,000 euros. The prices do not include transport, commissioning and taxes. Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
