De Antonio Yachts is expanding its portfolio with the fully glazed ‘D36 Cabin’. The Spanish shipyard is thus launching a closed, all-weather version of its D36 series, designed for colder waters and year-round use. We were there for the first demonstration in Poland.
When you first see the ‘D36 Cabin’ moored at the jetty, it certainly makes an impression: spacious sun loungers, floor-to-ceiling windows and sleek lines. With this model variant, De Antonio has transformed the D36’s sporty walkaround layout into a fully glazed, fully enclosed deck saloon design. Instead of a day cruiser designed purely for fair weather, this results in an all-weather cruiser moored at the jetty.
As with the other models, the Spanish boatbuilders have successfully integrated their tried-and-tested engine design into the “D36 Cabin” as well. The outboard engines are completely concealed beneath the spacious sun deck at the stern. In practice, this means that skippers can benefit from the performance and ease of maintenance offered by modern outboard engines without having to sacrifice a continuous, unobstructed swimming platform or the clean lines of a classic inboard yacht.
A new feature of the ‘D36 Cabin’ is the fixed glass structure in the central section of the main deck. It protects the helm, galley and seating area from wind and rain. To provide ventilation on warm days, sliding side doors and a rear opening with accordion-style folding panels have been incorporated. In fact, this layout works very well.
With the sliding doors and the rear hatch open, there is a pleasant draught, even at high temperatures of over 30 degrees. There are three roof options to choose from: a fixed panoramic glass roof, a version with fixed glass at the rear and a sliding roof at the front, and – as fitted to the test boat – a fabric sliding roof that opens fully via electric operation. A hot and cold air-conditioning system can be fitted as an option. For sporting activities, the shipyard offers mounts for fishing rods, water skis or roof racks on the hardtop.
The exterior of the ‘D36 Cabin’ has also been carefully designed. A high freeboard and sturdy handrails create a real sense of safety on deck. The two large sun loungers at the bow and stern can each accommodate two to three people. Another practical feature is the flat padded fenders. They are housed in permanently integrated holders on the port and starboard sides, which keeps the deck tidy and ensures the fenders are ready for use in a single movement when mooring.
When it comes to propulsion, De Antonio consistently relies on the patented shipyard principle: the outboard motors remain concealed beneath the sun lounger at the stern. This allows for a continuous bathing platform without any obstructive motor cowlings. The sun lounger can be raised via a hydraulic system, providing full access to the outboard engines. The manufacturer also utilises this hull design with concealed engines in larger models such as the De Antonio D60.
The “D36 Cabin” is designed to be fitted with Mercury Verado twin-engine set-ups ranging from 2 × 350 PS to 2 × 400 PS. The hull is designed as a double-redan stepped hull. According to the shipyard, the optimum cruising speed is around 27 knots, whilst the top speed exceeds 40 knots.
The deck layout is symmetrical. The helm station, with seats for the skipper and co-pilot, is positioned centrally to provide good sightlines and unobstructed walkways on both sides. The deckhouse features a central galley island with two 49-litre fridges, a hob or grill, a microwave and an optional retractable television. The U-shaped seating area opposite can accommodate up to eight people and can be converted into a double bed using lowerable teak tables. The shipyard has also consistently implemented the walk-around concept in the interior. Even with six people on deck, there is plenty of space to move about freely.
Below deck, the ‘D36 Cabin’ offers two separate cabins. The owner’s cabin, with a double bed and a solid door, is located in the bow, whilst aft there is a cabin with two single beds. With a minor modification, this can be converted into a very spacious sleeping area measuring 185 centimetres long by 215 centimetres wide. So, when the saloon table is lowered, up to six people can comfortably spend the night on board.
The hull is 10.40 metres long; the overall length, including the standard swim platform, is 10.83 metres. With the optional XL swim platform, the boat’s length increases to 11.13 metres. With a beam of 3.40 metres and a dry weight of 5,500 kilograms, the vessel is certified to carry up to 12 people. The fuel and fresh water capacities are 850 litres and 150 litres respectively.
As the shipyard’s founders, Marc de Antonio and Stan Chmielewski, announced, the model is a key component of the company’s international expansion. The official launch took place at the end of 2025. The all-weather cruiser will make its European trade fair debut in September 2026 at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Further information on the model range is available at De Antonio Yachts Ready.
