Bavaria has become a firm favourite in the "European Powerboat of the Year" awards. Visually speaking, this is hardly surprising: since the Sport model range was completely revamped a few years ago, the boats from Giebelstadt have clearly moved out of the mainstream of conventional design.

But Bavaria can also score points with interesting detailed technical solutions and good ideas for spatial planning. In any case, the international jury was once again sufficiently impressed this year to nominate the German shipyard in the Circle of nominees or rather the Bavaria Sport 43 HT.

The 13.83 metre long hardtop yacht will compete in the Group of boats up to 45 feet in length and will be up against competitors such as the Sealine SC42 and the Galeon 420 Fly. Incidentally, the last title for Bavaria was won by the Deep Blue 46 in 2010. The Sport 28 was also nominated that year, followed by the Sport 34 a year later. Who makes it this time will be announced at the Boat in Düsseldorf announced at the end of January.

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
