"Luna" was chained up at the Lürssen dock in Hamburg for two years due to EU and UK sanctions. Since the beginning of 2025, the Azerbaijani owner and billionaire Farkhad Akhmedov has no longer been on sanctions lists and can once again freely dispose of his gigayacht. The 114-metre explorer is now to be sold.
The 114.2 metre long Explorer "Luna", launched by Lloyd Werft in 2010, is for sale. The striking new cruise design is being offered for 270 million euros and is considered the second largest explorer yacht in the world. "Luna" is currently in Hamburg and is being extensively overhauled.

The 114.2 metre long gigayacht "Luna" is new on the market. The yacht brokers at Eastwind Yachts in Monaco are offering the explorer, which was launched in 2010, for sale for 270 million euros. "Luna" is regarded as the "Octopus" as the second largest explorer yacht in the world and combines maximum comfort with explorer genes. The yacht was designed by the Bremerhaven Lloyd shipyard built. The exterior design was created by Newcruise, while Donald Starkey was responsible for the interior design.

Extensive renovation and technical details

"Luna" is currently in Hamburg and is undergoing a comprehensive refit. The hull is ice-strengthened, enabling expeditions to remote Arctic regions. A diesel-electric propulsion system ensures a top speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots. Eastwind Yachts provides an insight into the detailed technical specification of the yacht icon, which states an impressive range of 9500 nautical miles. Four zero-speed stabilisers reduce rolling motion even at anchor and ensure comfort.

Plenty of space for 18 guests

"Luna" offers space for up to 18 guests in nine cabins. The owner's suite is located on its own deck and has a private saloon. Accommodation for 51 people is provided for the crew. A lift connects all decks from the lower deck to the observation deck. A special highlight is the huge pool measuring 12 by 5 metres and surrounded by sun loungers.

Helipads and entertainment

The 114-metre Exploer has two MCA-certified heli-pads - one in the nose and one in the tail. These are equipped with a separate fire extinguishing system and are approved for night landings. There is a specialised team on board for helicopter landings, maintenance and fire protection. On the bridge deck there is a private office for the owner and a conference room. The adjoining saloon offers cosy lounge areas and a formal dining area for the owner and his guests.

Wellness and entertainment

Entertainment and relaxation are provided by a dance floor, a cinema, a beauty salon, a beach club, a gym and a jacuzzi. The wellness area on the lower deck includes an integrated spa with steam bath, plunge pool and sauna. The fitness area on the port side has a fold-down balcony with sun loungers - ideal for workouts with a sea view. Two spacious garages on the port side accommodate several tenders and toys.

Martin Hager

Editor in Chief YACHT

Martin Hager is editor-in-chief of the titles YACHT and BOOTE EXCLUSIV and has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag for 20 years. He was born in Heidelberg in 1978 and started sailing at the age of six, in an Opti of course. This was soon followed by 420s, Sprinta Sport and 470s, which he also sailed on the regatta course with his brother. His parents regularly took him on charter trips through the Greek and Balearic Islands. Even at a young age, it was clear to him that he wanted to turn his passion for water sports into a career. After graduating from high school and completing an internship at the Rathje boatbuilding company in Kiel, it was clear that he did not want to become a classic boatbuilder. Instead, he successfully studied shipbuilding and marine engineering in the Schleswig-Holstein state capital and focused on yacht design wherever he could. His diploma thesis dealt with the “Testing of a new speed prediction method for sailing yachts”. In 2004, the superyacht magazine BOOTE EXCLUSIV was looking for an editor with technical and nautical background knowledge, a position that was perfect for Martin Hager. The application was successful and a two-year traineeship was arranged. After twelve years as an editor, the editorial team changed and he took over responsibility for BOOTE EXCLUSIV as editor-in-chief in 2017. After long-time YACHT editor-in-chief Jochen Rieker moved to the role of publisher, Martin Hager also took over the position of editor-in-chief of Europe's largest sailing magazine YACHT, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, at the beginning of 2023. When he's not working on topics for the two water sports titles, Martin Hager likes to go out on the water himself - preferably with kite and wingfoil equipment or on a little after-work trip across the Alster.
