Not everyone wants to wait years for their 70-metre-plus. So it's worth taking a look at the second-hand market. In the high-end segment, you can find something from around 120 million euros and will soon be an owner. BOOTE EXCLUSIV presents the ranking of the most expensive superyachts, starting with "Kensho", "Boardwalk" and "Pelorus".
The 75.2-metre Admiral from 2022 stands out from the sea of floating specialities simply because of its shimmering blue and turquoise metallic paintwork. While the Berlin-based architectural office of Holger Schulze-Seeger, which is well known to the client, helped to package the cubature, Paris-based designer Sanjit Manku took care of the airy Zen interior. Previously, neither of them had had much to do with yachts and, for this 75-metre-long venture, they primarily rethought the typical layout.
There is no classic main deck saloon, but instead a dining room for twelve people directly in front of the cockpit, which makes full use of the almost 13 metres of yacht width thanks to the lack of side decks. This is followed by VIPs, the master flat consisting of four rooms and finally the bridge. The space thus freed up in the first row on the upper deck is used by an 85 square metre panoramic saloon. There is no need to climb stairs; a lift with mother-of-pearl buttons connects all four floors. The order list that the client submitted to The Italian Sea Group also included a diesel-electric propulsion system with a top speed of 16 knots.
Project 707 took shape between 2019 and 2021 at Feadship's Aalsmeer site and was created in the graphics programmes of neighbouring house and yard designers Studio De Voogt. The interior of the 76-metre ship was designed by Amy Halffman from the USA, who previously headed the interior department at Westport and had already worked with the owner of the Boardwalk. Tilman Fertitta, owner of the NBA team Houston Rockets and US ambassador to Italy, is selling because he is taking delivery of a 117-metre boat of the same name and similar appearance from Lürssen this spring.
To make him feel at home on board the steel-aluminium format, the designer took her inspiration from the rooms of the Post Oak Hotel in Houston operated by Fertitta. In addition to the palatial ambience, the 14 guests can expect a gigantic beach, spa, sports and diving centre on the lower deck as well as a stately pool decorated with mosaics in a prominent position on the forward sun deck. After exercising, the crew serves a drink at one of the six (!) bars, which are skilfully distributed over the floors. The new owners would not have to carry out any major renovations; Y.CO describes the condition of this gem as "immaculate".
Yacht spotters love her, and rightly so. The 114.5 metre long Lürssen is one of the world's most famous formats and one of the timeless masterpieces of designer Tim Heywood. Its history can be bluntly described as chequered and began with the 72-metre yacht "Coral Island", which Lürssen delivered in 1994. However, her owner soon needed considerably more berths and quickly ordered a new 100 metre yacht. "Pelorus" finally came into the limelight in 2003 and was immediately stylised as an icon and milestone for the shipyard, and in fact for the entire industry.
Not least because of her impressive length, the opulent beach house interior by Terence Disdale and special features such as a cinema on the upper deck or a so-called disco garage. However, as the commissioning sheikh quickly lost interest in his treasure, "Pelorus" fell into the hands of Roman Abramovich, who turned her into a hotspot for various football stars. The list of owners was quickly joined by a music manager, another sheikh and finally an Asian property billionaire. Various refits gave "Pelorus" a larger pool and a revamped interior, among other things. Much remained the same, even the drive package consisting of Wärtsilä diesels, which give the 18.3 metre wide colossus speeds of up to 20 knots.
