RMK Yachts unveiled two projects during the Monaco Yacht Show. Both are 55 metres long and just under 500 GT, placing them in the size category currently most in demand amongst clients and shipyards alike. Espen Øino International is responsible for the concept, layout and styling. Giorgio Cassetta designed the interior and the exterior decks.
Arcane Era features a familiar layout, whilst Arcane Nova takes a more experimental approach. Both offer seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor areas, sheltered relaxation zones and a strong connection to the water.
“We analysed in advance how people spend their time on board,” said Øino during the presentation at the Monaco Yacht Club.
Arcane Nova moves the bridge forward
On the Arcane Era, the bridge is located on the sun deck. For owners who are looking for a modern yacht but do not wish to compromise on a classic layout.
Arcane Nova takes a more radical approach. The bridge is situated further forward, creating significantly more usable space on the sun deck. Rather than dividing this deck into functional areas, it forms a single, open-plan outdoor space for lounging, dining and relaxation. Complete with a hot tub, of course.
Piazza, Piazzetta and Jumbo Deck
One of the most striking features of the designs is the piazza at the stern. This replaces the typical beach club and offers around 180 square metres of space. The piazzetta is situated at the bow. This forward-facing lounge is designed as a sheltered outdoor space with a view in the direction of travel. According to Øino, many guests would like “a better view to the front”.
At the very top, the Love Nest Terrace provides a private vantage point. The atmosphere on the aft Jumbo Deck is a bit more sociable. The design provides for around 190 square metres of outdoor space over a length of approximately 35 metres.
Volvo Penta IPS as part of interior design
Both yacht concepts are based on Volvo Penta’s comparatively fuel-efficient and smooth-running IPS Professional Platform. The Arcane Era is planned to be fitted with internal combustion engines, whilst the Arcane Nova is based on a hybrid architecture. The compact installation in the aft section of the hull allows for flexibility in the layout, creating ample space for living areas, technical rooms or storage.
New shipyard, a new chapter for RMK
The Arcane Project comes at a time of major change for RMK Yachts. The shipyard is planning a facility in Yalova covering around 70,000 square metres, situated directly on the waterfront. This “superyacht ecosystem” will include production halls, a marina, a museum, a restaurant, a wellness park, a conference centre and a training academy. Operations are scheduled to commence in 2027.
