A picture-perfect custom yacht. At the same time, the T450 marks the start of a new series. BOOTE EXCLUSIV paid a visit on board the ‘Singolare’. At 45 metres, this is considered a compact model by Tankoa Yachts.
Tankoa Yachts builds bespoke yachts that reflect the lifestyle and tastes of their owners. At the same time, the Italian shipyard sets high standards in shipbuilding, technology and functionality. This philosophy is also evident on board the ‘Singolare’. Her American owner recently took delivery of her.
“The T450 follows the same boutique approach that characterises our larger yachts: flexible layout, refined details and technical solutions that enhance both functionality and comfort on board,” explains Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa Yachts.
‘Singolare’ is the smallest Tankoa to date, and the first in the T450 series. The model that preceded it – the actual first production model – was designed as a one-off custom build. It was this model that ultimately led to the launch of the production series.
Weighing 495 gross tonnes and measuring 45 metres in length, it boasts a compact design that feels anything but small. This is partly due to the clever design of Cassetta This is due to the fact that the interior spaces and outdoor guest areas appear to extend beyond the building’s overall length. At the same time, its sleek exterior lines minimise the impression of bulkiness.
This complete package is perfectly suited to her owner’s lifestyle. This is evident in the aft deck, which features fold-out terraces over the water and an infinity pool. The beach and pool area flows directly into the cool shade of the aft main deck, where the boundary between the deck and the saloon disappears thanks to huge glass doors.
A relaxed, family-oriented outdoor lifestyle is celebrated throughout. In addition to the outdoor dining areas on both the upper deck and the sun deck, there are dedicated barbecue stations. The design also makes use of the raised foredeck above the tender garage. Here, a continuous teak surface serves as a party area and sports court. Or, thanks to a screen set up there, it can be transformed into an open-air cinema.
On the sun deck, at the stern, there is a hot tub surrounded by sun loungers. There are also additional seating areas and a bar counter facing forwards. This is also where the lift ends for the crew. Not a lift for the guests, but for those who ensure the dinner is transported safely all the way to the top.
The area beneath the hardtop is designed as a cabana veranda. Movable glass panels keep the wind out without detracting from the open-air feeling.
Some layout features are rather traditional, such as the main saloon with its forward-facing dining area, which is bathed in light through floor-to-ceiling windows. Or the owner’s suite on the forward main deck, which spans the entire width of the yacht and features an office, a marble bathroom and a steam shower. The walk-in wardrobe for him and her is as large as the VIP cabin on most 45-metre yachts.
Other areas make use of the bespoke approach to deliver exactly what the owner wanted. In this case, a special upper deck: in addition to the aft terrace and TV lounge, there is a glazed fitness room with a sauna amidships.
“At the heart of the design concept is the owner’s desire to enjoy the yacht to the full with family and guests,” enthuses Cassetta. “The result is an ambience that is practical, comfortable and elegant. True luxury without ostentation.”
This is reflected in the style of the outdoor furniture and the interior décor. Warm, light colours in earth tones are complemented by vibrant accents from the artwork and accessories. Clean lines set the tone, with geometric shapes for speaker grilles or fittings replacing the rounded elements otherwise typical of yacht interiors.
The Brazilian architect was in charge of the interior design Debora Aguiar. “The rooms are strongly influenced by the owner’s personal taste,” confirms Aguiar. “Right from the start, he gave us complete freedom in all decisions, including the décor.” After reviewing her initial designs and realising that the design concept perfectly matched his vision, he entrusted the project to her with complete confidence.
Custom elements are combined with iconic pieces from leading (Italian) design houses such as Flexform, B&B Italia and Poltrona Frau. The result is a timeless, elegant and, at the same time, highly personal interior. Outside the Tankoa, furniture by Paola Lenti continues this design ethos.
The materials create a tactile aesthetic – from the coffee table made of roughly hewn stone on the aft main deck to the backlit light-coloured marble used for the forward partition in the saloon and in the day toilets. Warm oak parquet flooring extends throughout the yacht, complementing fluted wooden details, leather-clad walls and onyx accents. Oak panelling extends from the interior to the exterior, thereby reinforcing the connection between the different areas.
Particular attention has been paid to the flow of movement for the crew and guests – an aspect that is not commonplace on a yacht under 50 metres. In addition to the captain’s cabin on the upper deck, the ship’s lower deck houses four crew cabins, as well as a galley, a washroom and a comfortable crew mess. The lift mentioned above transports crew and food safely and discreetly up to the sun deck.
The Tankoa has a displacement hull designed for comfortable cruising. It can travel at a maximum speed of 16.3 knots, with a range of 5,000 nautical miles. Electric fin stabilisers keep the yacht steady. An advanced technology package ensures compliance with IMO Tier III emissions regulations.
“Singolare,” says Claudio Corvino, sales manager at Tankoa Yachts, “is a fine example of how the T450 series offers a flexible and reliable platform. For owners who wish to combine the uniqueness of a custom yacht with the reassurance of a well-thought-out design.”
