Pots and pans lead a sad existence on many boats. It is not uncommon for discarded items from home to be used. What's more, storage space is limited and therefore only the essentials are usually on board. The main obstacle with conventional pot sets are the rigid handles, which prevent space-saving stacking. The long handles of pans are even more of a hindrance.
The Cookvision Nesto crockery set avoids these problems. The pots and pans do not have fixed handles, instead there is a universal handle that can be clamped onto the respective utensil as required. Thanks to the patented mechanism, the handle can be easily operated with one hand, locks securely and holds even heavy pots reliably. If a pan is used as a casserole dish in the oven, the handle can simply be removed. The Cookvision Nesto set includes practical silicone handles for safely gripping hot pots on the hob or for pouring pasta water. These are pushed onto the pouring rim and serve as effective heat protection.
The Cookvision Nesto pots are available in diameters of 16, 18, 20, 22 or 24 centimetres, the pans in 20, 24 and 28 centimetres. We tested the 13-piece Cookvision Nesto set consisting of three pots, a pan, lids, handle, silicone handles, trivets and keep-fresh lid on board. The most striking advantage of Cookvision Nesto is its small pack size: the pots can be stacked inside each other and fit into the pan to save space. The magnetic silicone trivet acts as scuff protection so that the coating of the pan is not damaged. Thanks to the skilfully coordinated heights of the pans, the lids fit on the pans with the handles folded down, even when stacked, and they do not take up any additional storage space. This means that the entire set fits in the cupboard under the hob and there is even room for a pasta strainer.
When cooking on the gas hob, the Cookvision Nesto impresses with its even heat distribution and the efficient heat absorption of the aluminium core bases, which are also suitable for induction. The clamping mechanism of the handle works perfectly - although we usually use the small silicone handles for handling the pots and use the handle on the pan. The comparatively high shape of the pots is practical at sea as it provides plenty of freeboard. The Coating of the pan works very well and shows no signs of damage even after frequent use.
All in all, the Cookvision Nesto has proven itself very well and also looks stylish. We wouldn't want to be without it on board, especially as the handleless pots can also be used as a salad bowl. The 13-piece set costs 354 euros. Individual pots are between 40 and 60 euros
