Muir is expanding its range of horizontal anchor winches with a focus on corrosion protection and maximum space efficiency on deck. The winches are suitable for these models
Muir solves corrosion and space problems. The Tasmania-based company is promoting the new Cougar model as the only horizontal anchor winch for ships between 8 and 14 metres with a stainless steel housing. Muir now also offers three complete V4A variants for formats up to 24 metres in length, which are particularly interesting for charter or explorer yachts.
Space-saving anchor winches
The horizontally running Mega series includes sizes for yachts from 25 to 120 metres in length and now runs with planetary gears. The design team placed the chain stopper, the winch itself and the chain wheel on a single base plate. According to Muir, the compact system takes up to 40 per cent less space than conventional concepts. There is no need for separate deflection rollers or chain guides, which should reduce costs and make the mega systems less complex, but easier to access and maintain.
