The Grand Banks Baltic Club is not a registered association, but its sense of community is perhaps even stronger than in some "e.V." organisations. The owners' meetings of these quaint and iconic trawlers have a tradition that goes back to the 1990s.
Over the past few years, the Grand Banks community has grown into a family united by a passion for seagoing trawlers," says Markus Gehrlein, one of the organisers.
"Wherever a 'Grand Banker' meets a Grand Bank, a contact is made and acquired for the family." More than 25 yachts are expected to moor opposite the museum jetty for the next GB meeting from 26 to 29 May in Heiligenhafen's municipal harbour. The local tourism service is already looking forward to welcoming its special guests.

The motto of the event in Heiligenhafen is "Rendezvous, cultural events, sailor's yarns and moments of pleasure". The highlight will be the exclusive "Captain's Dinner" on Saturday evening in the rescue shed. Prior to this, the participants of the Grand Banks meeting are invited to the Heiligenhafen station of the German Rescue Association Shipwrecked (DGzRS) as a guest.
