The Palma International Boat Show (PIBS) in Mallorca will also open the series of classic in-water boat shows in Europe in 2023. It will take place from 27 to 30 April, daily from 10 am to 8 pm, at Marina Moll Vell in the port of Palma - at the same time as Palma Superyacht Village, the former Palma Superyacht Show. PIBS 2022 brought together 276 exhibiting companies (an increase of 21 per cent compared to last year) and 264 boats in their element. More than 32,000 people visited the show, twice as many as in 2021, a year dominated by coronavirus.

Toda la náutica - Water sports in all its facets

True to its motto "Toda la náutica en Palma", the boat show at the foot of Palma Cathedral offers a broad spectrum of the nautical industry: boats and yachts of different sizes and categories from inflatable boats to superyachts, jet skis, hydrofoils, engines and generators, electronics, navigation and communication systems, water tourism, various water sports, service providers from marinas to yacht brokers and much more. Even though PIBS is still regarded as the leading exhibition of large sailing boats in Europe, the 2023 programme is balanced. Both sailing and motorised catamarans, which are particularly popular with charterers, play a major role. The topic of sustainability is reflected in new electric boat models.

List of exhibitors and boats

If you want to get an idea of the variety of brands and types, take a look at the Boat list of the PIBS 2023, which, like the complete List of exhibitors can be found on the Boat Show website under "Catalogue" or "Catálogo". Both compilations can be downloaded as Excel-CSV files and are also useful independently of a visit to the show. The list of exhibitors contains the company name, exhibition area (zone) and stand number as well as the website and e-mail address of the exhibiting company. In addition to the exhibitor, stand number, zone and berth, the boat list also contains the exact model name, length, width, draught and a link to the manufacturer or dealer website for detailed information on the boat in question.

The boat repair and maintenance area will also grow. It is located in the Palma Superyacht Village. Yachts with a length of more than 24 metres from the international brokerage and charter market will be presented there.

More international shipyards at the Palma International Boat Show

The Palma International Boat Show is organised by the Institute for Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI) - part of the Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory - and the Balearic Islands Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA). Over the course of its almost 40 years of existence, the Boat Show has increasingly become one of the world's nautical centres of attraction. This is also reflected in the increase in the number of international shipyards exhibiting directly at the show. The organisers see the PIBS as a driving force in the industry, as it has been and continues to be one of the most important gateways for international companies wishing to establish themselves in the Balearic Islands or establish relationships with local companies in order to open up new business channels.

Key event for the Balearic shipping industry

Jaume Vaquer, President of the Association of Nautical Companies of the Balearic Islands (AENIB), explains: "PIBS is a key event for the Balearic Islands nautical industry, as it showcases our archipelago as a nautical destination par excellence in the Mediterranean. It is an excellent showcase for our companies to show the world the quality of nautical services and products available in the Balearic Islands. They attract thousands of customers from all over the world every year, making the nautical sector one of the pillars of the islands' economy and an important engine of prosperity and employment."

The AENIB trade association brings together more than a hundred companies in the nautical sector in the Balearic Islands - with a wide range of activities, from boatbuilding and boat trading to chartering, nautical training, repair and maintenance. Founded in 1982, it is the oldest and leading trade association in the nautical sector in the Balearic Islands and a member of ANEN (National Association of Nautical Companies), which represents practically the entire industrial and commercial structure of the leisure boating sector in Spain.
