Exactly 2586 water sports enthusiasts voted on more than 250 different harbours in the small kingdom. With around 400 more participants than in the previous year, this is also a new participation record. The winner was the harbour on Alsen in the Flensburg Fjord. The four other harbours in the top five are Marstal on Ærø, Dyvig Bådelaug on Alsen, Juelsminde in East Jutland (winner 2022) and Marina Minde X-Yachts in the Flensburg Fjord (winner 2021).
"The strong interest shows that the harbours are an essential part of the sailing experience for both Danish and international skippers," says Sune Abelgren Olsen from Danske Tursejlere, the organiser of the survey. "It also emphasises the importance of the award and at the same time provides all harbours with a valuable indication of what users value most, both as moorers and guests."
In addition to the title of Harbour of the Year, the harbour in Sønderborg can also look forward to prize money of 10,000 Danish kroner. In addition to the high score, the jury also emphasised the many positive comments from water sports enthusiasts, which had a major influence on the decision. Many of them referred to the good and well-maintained facilities and the high level of service provided by the harbour staff.
Harbour Master Klaus Brock from Sønderborg: "We would especially like to thank all the volunteers who worked hard together with the harbour staff to rebuild our harbour after the storm surge last autumn."
The "Pat on the Back of the Year" award was presented for the third time. This year there was a very close race between two candidates, so both were declared winners: Agersø Marina on the island of the same name in the Great Belt and Rødvig harbour on Zealand. Both also received prize money of DKK 10,000.
In the case of Agersø, many of the comments focused on the exceptional helpfulness and guest service provided by harbour master Palle Petersen virtually around the clock. In the case of Rødvig Harbour, the focus was on the enormous efforts of the harbour staff and the many volunteers in connection with the reconstruction after the disastrous storm surge in autumn 2022.
