The konoba trick makes eating out cheaper.
A legal trick allows sailors to make considerable savings when visiting the Kornati National Park. By ordering a ticket in a konoba, crews can save up to 150 euros per day. The scheme is also expected to apply in the Kornati in 2025.

Entrance fees for the popular Kornati National Park have risen sharply in recent years. In 2024, a crew with a 12-metre boat had to pay a whopping 190 euros per day if they bought a ticket inside the park. However, there is a legal way to avoid these high costs: the so-called konoba trick. This enables sailors to save a considerable amount of money and still visit the national park legally. Instead of buying the expensive ticket directly in the park, sailors call their favourite konoba before they arrive. There they not only order a table and mooring, but also the national park ticket.

You will find the most beautiful pearls of the Kornati in this article. A cruise description is read here.

The Konoba trick in detail

The trick works as follows: Most kurnatars, i.e. landowners in the Kornati islands, sold this ticket in 2024 for just 40 euros per boat. This means a saving of 150 euros compared to the regular price. The ticket purchased at the konoba is valid until the following day at 12 noon. When the park rangers come to check your dinghy, all you need to do is tell them that the ticket has been deposited in the konoba. The rangers will then check this by telephone. This way, sailors can enjoy a day in the national park without having to worry about high entrance fees.

Outlook for 2025

Negotiations are currently underway between the national park administration and the Kurnatars. It can be assumed that the innkeepers will once again sell cheap tickets in the 2025 season. This is good news for all sailors who want to visit the beautiful archipelago without having to dig deep into their pockets. Interestingly, this favourable option is not mentioned in the official price list on the national park's website. Sailors who want to take advantage of this trick should therefore plan ahead and find out about the conobas in the national park.

Tips for planning

A helpful resource for planning is the aerial photo atlas "Territories from above - Kornati Islands" from Delius Klasing Verlag, which contains the telephone numbers of all konobas in the national park. With this information, sailors can optimally prepare their trip and benefit from the savings. It is advisable to contact the konobas well in advance to ensure that tickets are available and to reserve a table and berth at the same time.

Advantages for the local economy

The konoba trick not only has advantages for the sailors, but also for the local economy. The 150 euros saved can be spent in the konoba in the evening. This promotes local tourism and supports the operators of the traditional restaurants in the Kornati islands. It's a win-win situation that allows visitors to enjoy the beauty of the national park while supporting the local community. The konobas often offer fresh fish and other local specialities, providing an authentic culinary experience for the sailors.
