Atlantic Marine Open 530: An all-rounder that is suitable for many leisure activities. She is well motorised with Honda's 100 hp outboard engine

In this article:

The Atlantic Marine Open 530 is a console boat that is approved for six people and, with a weight of around 700 kg (without engine), can still be trailered without any problems. Where can the journey take you? The Open 530 is ideal for inland waterways and coastal waters. Our test route was the Baltic Sea off Boltenhagen. There are plenty of places to anchor here, making the boats the ideal platform for sunbathing and as a starting point for jumping into the water. For bathing pleasure, Atlantic Marine offers an additional split platform on the test boat with a matching stainless steel ladder, which can also be easily folded out from the water.

Huge storage space under the console

The way to the platform is via a stern passage on the port side, which is equipped with an insert cushion; if the cushion is inserted, the stern bench widens. The cushions are firm and comfortable, and there is an optional bimini top for the cockpit. The bow seating area is also comfortably upholstered and can be converted into a sun lounger in no time at all. There is a driver's console in the centre of the boat, under which there is a huge storage space. The sports seats (a leaning post helm seat is supplied as standard) on our test boat are superbly upholstered and, above all, offer good lateral support. A footrest - integrated into the driving position - provides additional support. The seats can be pushed forwards and backwards, swivelled and adjusted in height. If you want to drive standing up, you can fold up the front seat cushion and then have plenty of legroom. Whether standing or sitting, the rider has the steering and top-mounted single-lever gearstick firmly under control and a good view of the instruments. The only drawback: the analogue compass recommended by BOOTE costs extra. The plastic windscreen with a surrounding handrail, typical of console boats, comes as standard. If you are standing, you look over the windscreen and naturally get the wind blown up your nose.

We set off from Boltenhagen harbour, casting off without any problems and mooring later at the end of the test. This is ensured by tight turning circles at slow speed and direct reversing behaviour when engaged in reverse. At displacement speed, the Atlantic Marine holds its course well and weight shifts by one person do not put her on the wrong track. On the Baltic Sea, we push the throttle lever forwards quickly and reach the planing phase at around 3500 rpm. The boat glides well from around 4000 rpm (19 knots), which is also the most economical speed. In this situation, 0.80 l/sm of petrol runs through the fuel line and the 98 litre built-in tank is sufficient for 103 nautical miles plus 15% reserve. Full-throttle pilots have to reckon with a consumption of 1.07 l/sm and, at a good 35 knots, can still cover 78 nautical miles before the reserve is needed. The Atlantic Marine Open 530 is trimmed using the outboard's hydraulic power trim system. In fast bends, the hull pulls around sportily with trim down, brakes automatically and the propeller grabs air at the end. If you drive the gyro with the outboard trimmed, the Open 530 reacts a little more sensitively. The hydraulic steering can be operated smoothly and precisely during manoeuvres.

The Baltic Sea only had a small swell on the test day, so we were only able to cross light choppy waves and the stern waves of other pleasure craft. With a normal planing speed of around 27 knots, we were able to skip the waves without any problems. Tube and bobsleigh riders have fun behind the boat; a water ski mast is on the options list to attach them perfectly, to which wakeboarders and water skiers can of course also hang their equipment.

Features of the Atlantic Marine Open 530

Fenders that protect the hull at the bridge are attached to the railing, canopy poles and cleats. All-round protection is provided by a well-dimensioned plastic moulding. The Open 530 is moored to four cleats that match the boat. Two centre cleats, which are useful for single-handed slipping, for example, are on the accessories list. The latter also applies to all types of tarpaulin and canopy solutions as well as two Clarion music systems (CMD6 and CZ202E). The manual bilge pump we requested is also not part of the standard equipment. The shipyard equips the bilge system with two electric pumps, and a fire extinguisher is conveniently located in a recessed box on the driving position. The fuel system makes a professional impression with its firmly bolted aluminium tank, filter cartridge, stopcock and double-secured petrol hose connections. The "good" rating is also awarded to the electrical system and the overall workmanship.
