Launch news: Columbus Yachts launches 50-metre yacht designed by Marco Casali
The design of the exterior and interior areas was created by Marco Casali designed by Too-Design. The layout of the Roman had to accommodate a gym, a sauna and a massage room. There is a pool with teak panelling at the stern and a whirlpool on the upper deck. The foredeck features sunbathing areas and an open-air cinema, which is set up on the helipad.
On the four decks, the main suite is spread over the forward main deck and four double cabins one level below. A new system for superyachts has been installed on board: Cold plasma disinfects outside air, which is used for both ventilation and air conditioning. On the one hand, this disinfects all rooms and removes viruses and bacteria from the air flow.
"Anjelif" is hybrid powered
"Anjelif" relies on a hybrid diesel-electric drive. The under 500 gross tonne aluminium construction is designed to run at a maximum of 20 knots and achieve a range of 3000 nautical miles at twelve knots. Two MTU sixteen-cylinder engines (2000 M96L) with an output of 1939 kW each work in the engine room, and there are also two Kohler generators with an output of 175 kW. The hybrid system enables the use of two electric motors with an output of 100 kW each for a speed of around 9 knots. The electric motors, which are coupled to the drive units, can in turn be used as shaft generators, which enables the vessel to move with the generators switched off. A lithium-ion battery bank serves as a power reserve to prevent power failures during the transition phases.
Columbus Yachts will present the 50 metre long "Anjelif" at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023.
