The upgraded Ultima 55: A high-performance catamaran from Sunreef and Brabus

The jointly developed Ultima 55 is the first project by the Polish shipyard Sunreef Yachts and the German tuning specialist Brabus. The catamaran measures 17 metres in length and 5.6 metres in width. Two six-cylinder engines, each producing 533 kilowatts (725 PS), power the moderately wide twin-hulled vessel. Its top speed is expected to stabilise at over 40 knots, with a hydrofoil system providing additional lift.

Wings beneath the water’s surface are designed to reduce drag and, consequently, fuel consumption. Sunreef is also applying the Kat concept to its larger model Sunreef Ultima 88. Brabus has recently made a name for itself through partnerships with the Jetsurf manufacturer Awake, a Clip-on module model and our long-standing collaboration with Axopar which marked the launch of the maritime mission.

Carbon fibre exterior design with platforms

​On the exterior, the Sunreef Ultima 55 Brabus has been fitted with several carbon-fibre elements. These include wings at the bow and stern, pillars with illuminated Brabus logos, and ventilation grilles on both sides. The modified roof rails are adorned with LED lights set into the carbon fibre, which serve both as lighting and as a distinctive feature. The Bottrop-based car tuner and manufacturer offers the typical graphite black as the base colour, with phantom grey available as an alternative.

The outdoor upholstery is available in three colours: graphite, red or pearl white. The aft deck serves as the main living area. Folding platforms on both sides can be lowered, increasing the width from 5.6 to 7.6 metres. The deck is made of Esthec, a durable synthetic material that remains non-slip even when wet.

Versatile sleeping areas and an outdoor kitchen

Large sun loungers in the stern can be folded down into benches. An extendable carbon fibre table can be used as a dining table or folded away as required. An outdoor kitchen with an electric barbecue, sink and storage space is situated right next to the seating area. At the bow, there is a further sunbathing area, separate from the social area at the stern. According to the manufacturer, the layout allows for al fresco dining without needing to use the interior cabin.

Interior with supercar-inspired features

The saloon incorporates design elements from the automotive industry. The seats and sofas are upholstered in Brabus Moonstone leather and feature the brand’s characteristic triangular embroidery pattern. The headliner is made from Alcantara, a synthetic suede. Further carbon fibre elements can be found on the helm, the helm seats and various trim panels. The floor is adorned with aluminium inlays featuring illuminated Brabus logos. Customisable lighting runs throughout the entire saloon. The helm station combines navigation, boat monitoring and on-board functions on a widescreen display featuring the Brabus user interface.

Pantry and retractable TV

The galley is fitted with an induction hob, an electric oven, a sink, fridges, ice-makers and storage compartments. A 43-inch television is integrated into the worktop and extends electrically. When not in use, it retracts completely into the unit. Height-adjustable tables allow for various uses of the saloon, whilst a Bowers & Wilkins sound system provides the background music for the interior.

A choice of two cabin layouts

The standard version features a master suite and a VIP cabin in the bow, as well as a single cabin aft for guests or crew. The alternative configuration comprises three guest cabins and one crew cabin, accommodating six guests and one crew member. Wood veneers and carbon fibre accents characterise the cabin design. The draught is 1.4 metres. The fuel tank holds 1,500 litres, and the water tank 330 litres. A 10.5-kilowatt generator powers the on-board systems. The narrow motor catamaran is certified to CE Category B for 12 people and Category C for 20 people.
