The New marina in the north of the Bay of Pula is now largely completed. It has 400 berths and all the services of a modern marina, including a laundry, nautical shop, workshops, 200-tonne crane and winter storage. The marina's final construction site is the new "Mon Luxury Heritage" hotel, which is due to open at the start of the 2024 season.
The largest current investment project in nautical tourism on the Croatian Adriatic is the conversion of the former industrial harbour of Porto Baroš in Rijeka into a Luxury marina with 230 berths for yachts up to 19 metres in length. Construction work is scheduled to begin in spring 2024. The berths should be ready for use from the 2025 season. Completion of the entire marina is planned for 2026. Investors in the major project are the Croatian marina chain ACI and the German Lürssen Group.
The popular Marina Punat in the south of the island of Krk will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2024. This makes it not only the oldest, but also one of the largest marinas on the east coast of the Adriatic.
Construction work in the central area of the marina was completed just in time for the anniversary. The new "Marina" restaurant was built here directly in front of the moorings, featuring state-of-the-art architecture and attractive outdoor facilities, including a lounge area with seating surrounded by water.
Another highlight is the new 540-tonne travel lift, which can lift ships up to 16 metres wide. It is by far the largest travel lift on the Croatian Adriatic.
A new hydrolift will be available in 2024 for motorboats up to 10 metres in length and weighing up to 5 tonnes. It is a type of forklift that can lift the boats out of the water and transport them to the dry marina.
The former fishing harbour of Klenovica is located on the Velebit coast and the Vinodolski Channel. This stretch of coast is extremely vulnerable to bora winds. To ensure greater safety for the boats moored there, two new piers have been protecting the harbour since 2022. In 2023, the municipal harbour of Klenovica was expanded to resemble a marina. Boats with moorings can moor at a new Y-shaped concrete jetty. All berths are equipped with electricity and water. Sanitary facilities are planned for 2024.
The municipal harbour of Sali, located in the south-east of the island of Dugi Otok, was extended in 2023 with a concrete pier on the seaward side and new bank reinforcement in the northern part and is now much better protected at Jugo. The extension has created around 55 new berths, which are currently being equipped with moorings, electricity and water.
The construction of the seaward breakwater was particularly complex, as it had to be founded at a depth of more than ten metres. In order to ensure natural water circulation, the concrete breakwater does not rest on a rock fill as usual, but on a double row of concrete columns between which the seawater can continue to flow.
The well-known sailing yacht charter company Euromarine is entering the large motorboat business at the start of the 2024 season. The new charter fleet at ACI Marina Split consists of Prestige 420FLY and Prestige 460 yachts, which can still be hired bareboat. The larger sisters Prestige M48, 520FLY and 590FLY can only be chartered with a skipper.
Price example: The flagship Prestige 590FLY (length 18.70 m, 6 berths in 3 luxuriously equipped cabins) costs € 15,800 / 19,300 per week in the low / high season. Skipper included. It is interesting to note that Euromarine also offers the new motor yachts for one-way trips from Split to Dubrovnik and vice versa.
In the south-west of the island of Šolta, south of the small town of Maslinica, lies the popular anchorage bay of Šešula, where over 50 boats and yachts are sometimes moored on the northern shore in summer. A small marina with 70 berths and sanitary facilities is to be built at this location in order to reduce the associated environmental pollution caused by the destruction of the seabed and the entry of dirty water.
The marina is being built virtually below the popular "Šišmiš" restaurant, which is located on a hillside above the bay. Construction work is scheduled to begin in spring and the first guests should be able to moor at the new floating dock as early as the 2024 season.
Visitors to the Elaphite island of Šipan in summer all too often find that the harbour is mercilessly overcrowded. While larger yachts then anchor in the bay, smaller motorboats have a new alternative: a seasonal floating pontoon in front of the Hotel Bozica offers around twelve berths for motorboats up to ten metres in length from the beginning of May to the end of September. There are moorings, electricity and water. Please book in advance, e-mail: info@hotel-bozica.hr, tel. +385 20 325 400.
From May 2024, power cats will be available for charter in the ACI Marina Dubrovnik for the first time. The charter companies Sunsail and Sunsail, which have been present there for many years with large sailing fleets The Moorings want to launch the brand new Power-Cat 404 PC at the start of the season. It is the new four-cabin version of the well-known Moorings 403 PC. It will then also be possible to sail from Dubrovnik to Montenegro.
After a total closure in 2023, the seasonal port of Cavtat will reopen at the start of the season on 1 May 2024. The entire quay between the water polo field in the south and the monastery church in the north has been completely renovated. Mooring at anchor is a thing of the past. There are now moorings, electricity and water everywhere in Cavtat.
