Trent-Severn-Waterway: licence-free houseboat holidays in Canada
Completely new destinations for charter holidays on inland waterways are few and far between. This is especially true for those that are not only licence-free, but also promise a good deal of adventure. But from the coming season, the time has come again: Le Boat, the leading international provider of houseboats, has added the Trent-Severn Waterway in the heart of Canada to its charter programme.

The area in Canada stretches over almost 400 kilometres in the centre of the province of Ontario and includes the Kawartha Lakes region - plenty of space for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. The numerous long, wooded lakes are connected by natural overpasses and a few artificial canal sections with locks and historic boat lifts.

The centrally located charter base in the city of Peterborough enables cruises of varying character in both western and eastern directions. Toronto, Canada's largest city with a population of almost three million, and its international airport are around 100 kilometres away on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Only houseboats from the new Horizon series are on offer, some in the Plus version, with two to four cabins and up to eight beds, depending on the type. After the Rideau Canal (also in the province of Ontario), the Trent-Severn Waterway is already the second largest waterway in the province. Le Boats second destination in Canada.

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
