Electric boats are becoming more and more popular and are increasingly being offered by shipyards. Some of these are young shipyards that only produce e-boats, but there are also long-established manufacturers who now also offer electric alternatives to their boats with combustion engines. Introducing the new Performance e801

Up to now, the list of equipment for performance boat enthusiasts has included powerful petrol engines. Recently, more precisely from the Boat Show in Tulln 2023, an electric motorisation from EVOY is on the equipment list. The Performance e801 had its world premiere at the trade fair in Austria.

Performance active in Italy since 1985

The electric drive is manufactured by EVOY, a company founded in 2018 by Leif A. Stavøstrand and his father Gunnar Stavøstrand. The company is based in Florø, Norway. Performance boats, on the other hand, are built in Italy, where production of the powerboats began back in 1985. With e-mobility, the two companies, which have been working together since 2021, want to give boaters the opportunity to be forward-looking and environmentally friendly, but also fast when travelling. Of course, coastal waters are just as easy to navigate as the popular lakes in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Especially where there are restrictions on combustion engines.

The new boat is equipped with a Hurricane 400+ hp water-cooled inboard engine and Mercury Bravo One XR-Z drive. Power is supplied by two 173 Ah Li-Ion battery packs (up to 3000 charging cycles with minimal waste). According to the manufacturer, this drive unit accelerates the Performance e801 to a top speed of over 50 knots. At a cruising speed of 25 knots, the range is 19 nautical miles. A display at the helm shows all the important data on the engine, batteries and, of course, the remaining journey time.

About EVOY

They develop 100% electric engine systems (outboard and inboard) for fast and powerful boats between 20 and 50 feet. Their mission is to reduce emissions from boats without compromising on performance and user-friendliness. Further information: www.evoy.no

His personal boat is a 4.50 meter long, self-built wooden boat with a 50 hp outboard motor. In 2007, he was appointed deputy editor-in-chief at BOOTE.
